Tom Vadnais Fine Art Photography equipment

equipment of Tom Vadnais I have been shooting exclusively digital since Autumn 2001, when I traded my trusty Nikon F5 film camera for a Nikon D1x DSLR. In 2005, I replaced my two D1x's with a pair of Nikon D2x's. Now, I'm back to full frame cameras with one each of Nikon's incredible D3 and D3x. I use only Nikon professional lenses, ranging from a 16 mm fisheye through a 300 mm telephoto, and a 1.4, 1.7, and 2.0 times teleconverter. On my Gitzo GT3540XLS carbon fiber tripod sits an Arca-Swiss C1 Cube geared head. All my images are captured on Lexar compact flash cards. I prefer Singh-Ray filters in a Lee holder. I also rely on a B+W polarizer. I wouldn't be caught without my Toyo focusing cloth, LL Bean Bob Krist vest, and black crushable felt fedora (which doubles as a great lens shade!) When traveling, everything but the hat, vest, and tripod lives in a Think Tank Airport Security v2.0 or Airport International v.2.0. In the field, I now use the Think Tank Skin modular belt system. When I get home, I print all my images on Ilford Smooth Pearl or Epson Exhibition Fiber paper using an Epson 7800.
